Photographed this in our trip to Sunderbans on 17th Jan 2020. This was sighted perch on a tree in the evening while returning back in the launch. Surprisingly it was very patient and gave us ample opportunity to photograph.

Canon 80D, Canon 100-400mm L IS USM lens, ISO 640, 1/320, f6.3, full frame, hand held.

Comments and critiques welcome.

It was an awesome sighting. Without any intervening vegetation hiding it, we can see the details clearly. The feathers on the leg reminds me of designs of shirts heroes used to wear in 70s. The large eyes look wonderful. The talons can effortlessly pierce toughest of skins. And the speed at which it dives down, I am sure its prey would be dead before knowing what hit them. The curved branch nicely frames the bird. The evening golden light from the side was superb. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

'Terror from the skies' - as M. Krishnan described peregrine falcon. It could stoop at a speed of over 200 km/hour from above to strike a bird flying below.
Nice image. Great details. Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild
