Photographed this in Chilika Lake during our trip in Jan 2020. It was interesting to see how it was able to pull out snakes from the vegetation in the lake and quickly fly away before someone else snatches it away. In the morning it was cloudy, so had increased the ISO for photographing birds in flight from the boat, but later light became good and I forgot to dial it back :(.

Canon 80D, Canon 100-400mm L IS USM lens, f8, 1/5000, ISO 2000, hand held

Comments and critiques welcome.

The eye contact is nice. I like the fully downward wings position. Overall looks lovely. I agree that since you used 1/5000, reducing the ISO to ISO 1000 would have been fine as well. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful image conveying an impression of early morning mistiness .The half eaten snake gives great interest to the image .A little loss of details is understandable under the circumstances .Thanks for sharing .
