This pic was taken in 2012 at Eravikulam NP Munnar....these two male Nilgiri Tahrs were rollicking around us for quite some time and it was a close encounter for us.Never again we have witnessed such an event!

Nice to see this one. These days with the barriers and tourists things have changed and the Nilgiri Tahrs in Eravikulam don't come as close. One researcher had given salt and got one group of Nilgiri Tahr's in Eravikulam to become accustomed with people. These days there is no feeding. If the Nilgiri Tahrs see that there is no harm from people then they will come close. Thanks for sharing.

Its good you were able to sight them from such close distance. Beautiful horns and eye contact from both. Its good in a way that they have put barriers now, as people don't maintain distances and also start feeding, they don't understand that these are wild animals :(. Thanks for sharing.

Nice close up and good details of these rare animals . The twosome with their curved tiered horns , tunneled snouts and marbled eyes indeed present a unique sight .Thanks for sharing .
