ID: orb weaver with moth catch

While traversing the trail, spotted this dead moth entangled in the web of a spider, and intrigued with the way the moth was consumed and just the wings and some fur was left behind, decided to frame it. To my surprise, while getting closer to the subject, realized the presence of the predator who had left the moth in such shambles. The tiny spider blended well along the wing area and seemed to be feeding on something

Its amazing how such a big moth has got caught in the web. It would have provided the spider enough food for days. Just the un edible parts are left. Nice behavior photographed. Thanks for sharing.

The power of the web is in full display. Too often people think size matters. This image should dispel those misconceptions. The spiders inject into the prey and the digestive juices act there. Then they suck those in. Nature has designed such innovative solutions one can never fail to admire. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
