Nikon P900 , 1/500 , F5.6 , ISO 180. Hand held. Almost full frame , just cropped a bit from bottom to bring the mongoose front. Basic pp in Lightroom.

Clicked on 18th July, 2020 at Nizamsagar, Telangana.
We visited Nizamsagar 4 times and in each trip we saw at least 2 mongooses , which emerged on to the road from the fields surrounding the road. I managed to click few very good shots of these mongooses. This particular one was sighted in the first trip to Nizamsagar, it was coming straight towards us and would occasionally go into the bushes.

You have captured its curious look nicely. Due to the lockdown, which resulted in less traffic and less people on the streets, they got some breather. We could sight a few mongoose even in the city. I think these days (with better cameras) you can comfortably keep the ISO to 200 (or even 400) without causing much noise. Which would help you to use narrower apertures. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to more.

It is curious and is looking straight at you. Were you shooting from a car? If on feet, then bending down or sitting down would help get a lower angle. That would also help avoid focus on the road. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

It's always great to spot s mongoose . They are such sprightly creatures always on the move that they are more often than not difficult to capture .This one has a very inquisitive expression . Thanks for sharing .
