Purple Heron with fish net

This purple heron caught a fish which was caught in an abandoned fish net in Mangalajodi, Chilika lake. The purple heron couldn't extricate the fish and was holding the net for a long time. Atleast half an hour that I saw.

It shows how determined it was to get the fish out of the net. Hope it did not try to consume the fish, swallowing some part of the net with it :(. The abandoned nets pose a threat to these birds.

It seems to be against the light, but the colours and the details look good. Thanks for sharing.

Visually pleasing combination of colours in a lovely landscape .Of course the discordant note is the fishing net but, then it has an important story to tell .Thanks for sharing .
