I have never seen calf of a Sambar deer.Looks like a dog!.....well captured!

Interesting to see that the tail of the kid is up. The kid will learnt that mom stops to assess danger. So by habit tail goes up and then comes down. Slowly the kid will learn to correctly assess the danger. Thanks for sharing.

The mother has already sensed the direction of the danger and looking at it to access the next steps. The kid we can see is still not aware. We can learn so much about their behavior by observing. Liked the display of habitat. Thanks for sharing.

The mother has turned her head and full face of dish antenna (ear) towards rear landscape for origin of any sound or just for surveying. The fawn is on probation.

I have seen many Sambar calves in Australia.
