Large Herd of Gaurs!

These Gaurs were grazing peacefully at Periyar Tiger Reserve!...PTR must have a good population of Tigers but difficult to spot them like Kabini or Tadoba.The deer species are also quite aplenty here.I dont think any good photos of Tigers from PTR exists!

Nice to see so many Gaurs. Sightings in PTR is limited from the boat. So it would require real luck to sight a tiger in the limited time of the boat safari. In other places due to jeep safaris and also guides tracking the tigers have led to more sightings. Thanks for sharing.

Life eternal. 50 years back M. Krishnan took a similar photo of Gaur herd and now our Sankar has taken.
How blessed we are ---- some great souls had thought about preservation for benefit of generations to come...

Glad to see a herd of Gaurs grazing peacefully. I remember there was a trekking option where in one can go on a two day guided trek and stay in the jungle in the night. I am not sure if that trek is still done these days.
