Can you advise as to the distance between the two places. Tadoba/Corbett please.

It theoretically is possible for genetics to have travelled so far since the Bachelor days i`m sure.

Theoretically definitely .The tiger has been known to travel immense distance in search of mate and new territory .I said most likely .

The distance between Corbett to Tadoba is 1498km by map. Tigers these days are known to have travelled more than 1000 kms. During Corbett's time India had way more forest cover and animal movements were seamless due to the contiguity of forests. In fact contiguous word was not applicable during that time as human habitations were much less. Human habitations were like small islands. So chances of genes of one tiger like the famous bachelor of Powalgarh finding way to another part of country is easy.

Today forests are like small islands and genetic diversity is going down. There is rampant inbreeding in these bigger National Parks. Few years ago one researcher from Wildlife Institute of India even claimed that Indian tigers have different genes as per their landscapes and caused huge controversy. However, with lot of inbreeding slowly it can become true.

Lovely image. Tadoba is surely the best place to sight tigers. Once, Matakasur , the hefty male of Tadoba crossed right behind our gypsy and it was a truly magnificent moment. Thanks for sharing.
