Tiger and Gaur Face off.....Kabini!....Drama unfolded in front of us at Kabini....a few Gaurs were grazing peacefully and a Tiger appeared suddenly.One Gaur was courageous and it stood its ground!...The Gaur even made a few steps towards the Tiger.....the poor Tiger(only this time around!) made a retreat into the nearby thickets!.....the lighting was tough as it was almost 6.30 pm!

This looks like a big Male Gaur standing its ground to protect the herd. Good you could photograph both the tiger and the gaur in the same frame. Not sure, but the tiger seems to be young. It is rare to witness such natural history moments. Thanks for sharing.

Nice to see this. The tiger doesn't appear to be in a mood for gaur hunting. It was sniffing the road to ascertain the presence of some other tiger. All the major prey species have been endowed with strong hoofs and horns so a tiger has to be very careful while hunting, especially big bulky prey. Thanks for sharing.

Great that you capture both predator and prey in the same frame .The prey are generally aware that the tiger is not in a hunting mode and stand their ground.Thanks for sharing
