It was little weird to see this lone Sambar Deer walking in the Ram Ganga River. There are crocodiles around and a Tiger can be lurking anywhere! But thats true at any part of the jungle!

Nice view of the Ram Ganga river. The Sambar Deer is looking alert, maybe something has already caught its attention. I feel a wider composition would have also been nice giving a view of the beautiful corbett landscape. Thanks for sharing.

Nice image. The Sambar is alert but not alarmed.
Sambar is in the open -- facing predicament when to return to bushes or deep woods.
I have seen Sambar in good numbers coming out to thr open space during raining when their hearing ability is ineffective due to sound of rains.
Gharial does not attack deer.
About Mugger, I have not heard of its attacking Sambar.
Thanks for sharing.

Some of the large muggers are definitely capable of pulling down a deer however we don't often see evidence of it. Kailash Sankhala once mentions a mugger in Chambal river getting into the water to kill a tiger. The tiger tried to avoid the mugger and went close to the bank. The Mugger attacked and the tiger swiftly killed it and threw the mugger in the bank and went away.
The tribals had btold that muggers don't attack humans and livestock in Satyamangalam Tiger Reserve. I found the muggers there to be very shy and difficult to photograph. I had got into the river for morning bath without encountering any problem.
With Salt water crocodiles it is a different story.
