This is a nice image. The open beak adds to the image. The DOF needed to be more to cover the whole body...

Nice low angle. The BG compliments the bird. Agree about more DOF. Where was this photographed?

Nice shot, agree with the earlier comments. Why is the DOF low at f6.3?

because at 500 m.m. DOF is usually so. you get better DOF with wide angle lens even at 3.5 if you focus at infinity,while with tele lens you wouldn't get that much of DOF even with f-11.
