Shot this near my farm in Bandipur, the light was really bad. Have tried post processing in photoshop, appreciate your comments for further improvement.

Good shot, Looks like you tried your best in those conditions... Perhaps setting a +ve exposure compensation at the time of clicking would have helped expose the shadows better.

Agree with Abhishek on using exposure compensation when shooting against the light. There is a lot of noise in the dark areas.

Nice eye contact. Is this a crop? Wish for a more natural perch. Agree with the above comments.

I agree with Abhishek regarding the positive exposure compensation. From the 1/2500 shutter speed and the f8 aperture, it is apparent that the image is underexposed. When the sky occupies a large portion of the frame, the meter would read the scene accordingly and underexpose it to bring it to the reference mid tone gray used by our cameras. Please check the histogram of your image. The curve corresponding to the bright sky would be towards the right and the one created by the kite would be at the left.
