This is in continuation to the Sambar and dhole attack and counterattack that that I had posted earlier. Bandipur Tiger Reserve.

The action had shifted to the side of the waterhole where the Sambar mother and fawn were present. The Mother was trying to shield her fawn and stamp her feet to distract the dholes. Then the sambar hind that was attacking the dholes in the other part of the waterhole moved over to this side. The mother and the other hind joined together and made a combined counter attack on the dholes. The fawn was watching the drama.

Canon EOS 1D Mark II, Canon Ef 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF1.4xII, ISO 800, f4, 1/200 full frame.

Cheers,

This simply great, good counter attack by the sambars, were there only 2 adults? I am wondering what must be going thru the fawn's mind during this, Mother Nature hats off!
