Too much focal length

At times a longer focal length is not good.

I was taking closeups of this kestrel and it flew. I tried to make the most of the situation.

Canon EOS 1D Mark II, Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF 2xII, ISO 800, f8, 1/1250. I cropped slightly (about 5%) from top and right.
