The recently concluded Copenhagen Climate summit was stalled over the following:

How much was it worth saving the planet / us as a species?
Who was going to give the money to save the planet?
Who was going to get the money to save the planet?

It's but obvious that the discussions were not about making positive contribution on cutting down on carbon emission, but about talking on the financial aspect of it.

Though I have been a supporter of carbon trading, I feel the talks have been more about shifting excessive carbon from one country to another. Talks have not been about reducing carbon in a significant manner.

Take a look at this picture. This is the aerial picture of Male - the capital of Maldives.

As I saw this picture, I realized how important the rise of sea level is to the Maldivians. Even a 10 cm rise in sea level will make this island city vanish - become the Atlantis of Twenty first century.

Residing in Hyderabad on the Deccan Plateau I should not be under the false notion of security and invincibility about rising sea etc.

The sea is going to affect me soon. But first Maldives is going to take the brunt.

What are your views about the climate talk?
How would you reduce energy consumption at your home?
How would you reduce your carbon footprint?
What are steps you would take to reduce carbon emission in your organization / college?
