White Wagtail (Motacilla alba) is a common winter visitor in India. This bird is found in wetlands, villages and cultivation. Size: 21 cm. Photographed this near Pune.

Canon 50D, 100-400mm L IS USM, f7.1, ISO 200, 1/500, hand held.

Comments and Critiques welcome..

Nice action captured. Lovely compo. Maybe you could tone down the whites a bit.
There is a slightly distracting bluish patch in the BG. What is it?

Nice action. Great that you got it sharp at 1/500. The low angle is nice.

Am quoting from Salim Ali:
In non-breeding or winter plumage the black rib is much reduced or wanting, the chin and throat being white like the underparts. Sexes alike. Scattered parties or flocks running about and feeding on open grassland.

Winter visitor arriving about September/ October; departing March/ April. Runs about swiftly, wagging tail incessantly up and down, to pick up tiny insects on ploughed fields, fallow land, golf links, maidans and lawns even in the midst of populous towns. Roosts at night in large mixed gatherings with other wagtails and swallows in reed-beds, sugarcane fields, and leafy trees.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Lovely image here Mrudul. Nicely captured... The blue patch seems to be water. I can see some noise in the background greens. any reason why at ISO 200? sharpening?

Thanks for the comments. The blue patch is water.
