Found a lot of these on the southern beaches in Goa.
Was shot with a Sony Cybershot w210.. Entirely amateur ..But thought I'd share....

Nice image. You could have tried a vertical composition to include the entire shell. Please post the EXIF details of the aperture and shutter speed to help in commenting.

Yes, it's a hermit crab. They occupy any available empty shells, in this case it is a Turret Shell.

I guess you have taken this snap closer than the minimum focus distance for your lens... thats why it is a bit out of focus... Thanks for sharing.

@ mrudul: I did not manually set the shutter speed or aperture..Still learning .. Will read up on it..Thanks!
@ bibhav..I guess you're absolutely right...Was focussing on getting as close as possible ...but lost some clarity I guess..Will keep it in mind henceforth

This is a hermit crab.

Check the tutorials in the tips section. That would help you a lot.
