i am sorry if i am taking too much liberty, but i thought some experimenting with levels might improve the contrast...

Thanks for the repost.

It was a overcast day, so there was less contrast. In some situations, higher contrast works better, however, in this scene the background becomes dark and starts attracting attention. It always has to be a fine balance between increasing contrast and losing shadow details. Having said that, you can increase the contrast slightly more than the version I had uploaded. I had just converted the raw file without any tweaking at all. :-)

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Lovely shot. The splash included behind the bird adds a lot.
I like the original better.

The action is freezed nicely. The f8.0 has helped to get the whole bird in focus. The repost does brings out more details, but a slight less contrast would be good.

The original feels better probably due to the better sharpness. I like the repost too but the background is contrastier and demands more attention. F8 has covered the body well.

The original is better, but Jitendera is right some boost in contrast is needed, however Jit has overdone a bit.
Its good to see you guys experimenting, learning curve near ends...

beautiful capture from distance at 800mm. How far you were form the pelican at the time of capture?

All best wishes,

Cheers, Rahul
