Nice eye contact and composition. I would suggest that setting up a hide near a water body, would help you to get a full frame photograph even at 300mm.

You can buy a hide or set up a dummy hide using a gunny bag. Even if you leave it, you need not fear anyone picking it :). That will be very fruitful for bird photography. You can sit there for a couple of hours, as birds would get quite close that way. You could frequently use it during your trips there atleast for the next couple of months.
