Even a dead tree can sustain life. That is why it is a bad practice to remove dead trees or fallen trees from the forest.

This is from my bharatpur collection.

Canon 50D, EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF 2xII, ISO 400, f8, 1/160

Nice composition. I liked the texture on the tree bark. The b/w composition enahnces it further. The tree frames the image nicely. The owl looks really sleepy :). Its good you got one eye open. The details are lovely.

Beautiful image. Any reason why you converted it to B&W?

Div,
It is important to think in terms of black and white while photographing, if the end result is going to be shown in black and white.

Our eye sees in colour. So it is a challenge to visualise a scene without colour. There are certain things that look better in black and white or get accentuated in black and white. Just imagine a morning sunrise colours in the sky. In that case the emphasis is on colours. Converting to black and white would make no sense in that situation. I am uploading the colour version for you.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi
