Hi Mahesh,

Welcome to IndiaWilds.

You have photograhed the behaviour nicely. The high tempertures sure affect the birds and animals too. This is one way the birds try to regularise their body temperature.

I liked the eye contact and the open beak. Is this a crop? Please do post your equipment details and EXIF details like aperture, ISO and shutter speed to help in commenting better.

Look forward to see more photographs from you. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Mahesh,
Welcome to IndiaWilds!

Birds do this for thermoregulation, just like dogs are seen panting similarly birds do gullar fluttering. When they open their mouth and blood flows to the buccal cavity and the moist gullar area is vibrated. This helps in dissipation of heat.

The ambient temperatures are going to increase due to global warming. So definitely, the total time they get for hunting etc will come down, as they have to come into shade sooner. Not all birds and animals and organisms can adapt to the rise in temperatures.

Share your exif details for better critiquing. Is this a large crop?

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Lovelyt composition. Agree about the effect of temperature on all animals. 'Panting' is a method exhibited by a lot of animals to cool off and let off body heat. Lions and dogs would die in the heat if they aren't able to pant. Thanks for sharing.
