The light was low. Else, f8 would have been better in getting the texture on the bark. You don't get the eye contact all the time with this species. Lowering the contrast slightly may help. Thanks for sharing.

Nicely camouflaged. I liked the composition. Agree an eye contact would have been great. Narrower aperture would have really enhanced the image further. Thanks for sharing.

nice pair ,...i understand you couldn't use lower aperture due to low light,..was the camera tripod mounted?

The dry plumage suggests that it is scops owl. But its bulky form raises suspicion. Scops owls are generally sleek.

Can you please reconfirm Atul ?

It couldn't have been any other owl actually. If you look at the other 32 varieties of Indian owls, it wouldn't fit any of them. So by the process of elimination I think it would be scops and nothing but scops.

The composition is nice. Would like a bit more sharpness. More eye contact would have been nice. More DOF would have been nice, but your shutter speed was already less. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent find and photograph. Well camouflaged bird along with the tree makes it as an interesting find.
