This viper was taking rest under a fallen tree when we also decided to take rest by the same tree in the Neyyar wildlife sancturay near Trivandrum. The snake moved but stayed put so that I could take a number of pictures!

Canon 400D,55-250 IS lens,tripod used,auto mode,shutter 1,aper:13,ISO 100

Lovely sighting. I liked the eye contact and the details. The low angle is nice. Could you get the entire snake in the frame? Do post it. Thanks for sharing.

A very beautiful reptile you got there. I found that you have put up the same image in the wikipedia article on the viper. Good that you did so. Link to the wiki article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnale_hypnale)

I agree that including the tail would have been better. Given that you had a shutter speed of 1 sec, it would have been better to up the ISO to arnd 400, that is of course not using the auto mode. Thanks for sharing.

I agree that a higher ISO would have been better. Good that you didn't put a step on it.

Cheers,
