This one was resting beneath a rock when we stopped during a trek to the Agastya mountains.I was so close to the snake that the camera needed to be drawn back to get it focussed.

Nice close-up. You could have tried to increase the ISO for a higher shutter speed and a narrower aperture. The eye contact is nice. There are some highlights, you can try to recover the details in PP. Did you try to move back get the whole snake? Thanks for sharing.

Agree with Mrudul's comments. Looks like the light was tricky. There are highlights, but also some dark blacks. Do you have other angles/compositions?

The image was taken from vertically above, hence trying to find a point of interest is a bit confusing here. If possible a low angle would have been better. You can try to recover some highlights in post processing. Thanks for sharing.
