Bee in Flight

HI All,

Took it last year in my garden. Nikon D70s + 85mm f/1.8 + 36mm extn tube @ f8 HH iso 400. Cropped from all sides little bit. BTW would love to ID it, anybody?

Nice shot. The blurred violet near the bottom is a bit distracting, but I still like this image.
My guess would be that it is Rock Bee Apis dorsata (confirmation needed). Obviously it is a worker.

Nice composition. I am ok with the purple at the bottom. What was the shutter speed?

Beautiful composition. The background is nice. The details on the bee are good. I would have liked a bit more space on right than on the left. Thanks for sharing.

No idea about the id of the bee. I agree with Abhishek that without the hint of purple at the bottom, the image would have been stronger. A higher shutter speed and dof would have further enhanced the image. However, going beyond the ISO 400 in the D70s would lead to lot of noise. More space at the right would have been good as well. Thanks for sharing.
