This Grey Lapwing has created a flutter amongst the naturalists at Kabini. They claim that it is the first time it is sighted here (maybe Vikram or others can confirm this) and wanted this photo for their records and for publishing in the local naturalist community.

From a picture point of view, this is more of a record shot. It was very far away and there was no way of getting close. Had to use a 2X on a 500 mm with a lot of compromise on picture quality.

40D, APO 150-500, 2X, F13 (F6.3X2), 1/160, ISO 400

Good record. A higher ISO would have been better as the shutter speed of 1/160 is insufficient for that focal length. Was it handheld or on tripod? Mirror lockup may not have helped much as the lapwing was moving. Thanks for sharing.

Nice sighting. The eye contact and composition is good. Agree increasing the ISO would have helped. Good record photograph. Thanks for sharing.
