From Eaglenest, Arunachal Pradesh. Fast moving birds in flocks, undergrowth and bamboo thickets.

EOS 40D+ EF400L f5.6, handheld.
1/50; ISO 800; f5.6; EC +1

Lovely bird. The eye contact is nice. Wish the light was good for you to get a higher shutter speed. Could you get any side profile photographs? Look forward to more.

The +1EC is not by design :sad:, simply a carry forward setting. though i guess it would have been only at 1/100 w/o it, still should have remembered to correct it. Need lots more practice!

The birds are very restless and offer you literally a split second to capture. All through the trip, I struggled with this and the light...from a backlit bird to under the bush in half a second!;) !

1/50 is low. I agree that the light levels at Eaglenest is low. The only suggestion for these situations is to use as high an ISO as far as practicable (in this case ISO 800), using proper handholding techniques and firing a burst.
