I agree that including complete paw would have made the image stronger. So zooming out a bit would have helped.

A higher shutter speed would have improved sharpness. Increasing the ISO to 400 from 200 would have doubled your shutter speed.

In backlit situations, it is difficult to get the eyes clearly in focus. The autofocus of the camera often locks into the high contrast areas and hence the eye often doesn't look to be in focus. In such situations, it is better to try manual focus.

I agree that zooming out a bit more to include the paw would have been better. You would have got a better shutter speed if you had increased the ISO a bit more (400). Thanks for sharing.
