This fellow croosed the road near the Mudumalai check post.It crossed right in front of our car.Photo taken before it crossed.It looked very intimidating!

Nice image Sankar, this is a huge bull. Did you try a full image?
It's quite common on the Ooty highway to see Gaurs and Elephants crossing.

Its a Gaur. Scientific name is Bos gaurus.

Bison are found in USA and to a lesser extent in Europe (where they are virtually being wiped out).

The males can be as high as 6 feet on the shoulder level and weighing about 1100 kgs. Pretty impressive fellows. They are larger than the American and European Bison and the cape buffalows in Africa.

A wider angle would have been better in capturing its feet and shoulder.
