Sambar Close up!

The image is created at Ranthambhore Zone 5 on 16th March'10 @ 8:17am. We heard alarm calls & waited near a water body for while but the tiger did not make his appearance. The water body was beautiful surrounded by rocks and it was quite dense, later a lone sambar very alert came to quench its thirst.

Nice composition. I think there is a slight movement of the ears. I higher shutter speed would have helped. The particles flying in air look good. Thanks for sharing.

I like the pose here. Agree abt the shutter speed.
I tweaked the image a little: played with the levels, and a slight increase in brightness. (I dont think the brightness boost was necessary though :-P)

Nice pose. The contrast boost in the repost gives it a sharper look. The flies add to the image. The light level seems to be pretty low. The sambar seems to have moved its ears and hence the soft look. Thanks for sharing.
