Shot this at Ranthambhore on 15th March'10 @ 4:10pm, this is a full frame image.

The tiger appears to be in shade and light appears to be low. When the tiger is moving across the frame, shutter speed needs to be around 1/500 to get the image sharp. If the tiger is far away, ie. smaller in the frame, then the shutter speed can be lower. To visualise this better, imagine two concentric circles. To cover the same distance, the subject on the outer circle ( ie. farther away from the centre) covers a less arc angle.

Nice composition. I agree a higher shutter speed would have helped to the image more sharper. Wish the light was good, you could have got a higher shutter speed. The details on the face are nice. Thanks for sharing.
