A curious sambhar fawn with a wet nose in the Zone-4 of the Ranthambhore national park. That evening the skies were covered in dark grey thunderclouds, however just when we were on the way out, in the expansive grasslands before malik Talao, the Sun burst thru and bathed the grasslands with lovely soft light.

EOS 50D+ 70-200 f2.8 IS L at f2.8, 1/3200, ISO400, Full frame hand held.

Nice composition. I liked the vertical frame. The alert pose and the eye contact is nice. A think a narrower aperture would have enhanced the image further. The ruffled hair looks nice. Thanks for sharing.

I like the inquisitive look. I guess it was close to the gypsy. Moving slightly back and shooting at a longer focal length would have given a lower angle. Thanks for sharing.

I love the young deer in the beautiful golden light.

Very nice capture.

The ruff around the neck is fluffy. Sambar are the only deer that have mane like hair round the neck and it is interesting to note that even fawns have them.

I like the fluffed fur. The inquisitive pose is nice. A bit lower would have been better. Wish there were a bit of catchlight in the eye. Thanks for sharing.

A very nice capture, agree on the shooting angle, probably you could have got down on the gypsy's floor.

In fact this is the season when the sambar deer can be found shedding their old coat.
