An adult blue-footed booby which belongs to the Galapagos Islands has arrived at the Trivandrum zoo;ofcourse not intentionally!

The 3 foot long sea bird with a wing span of 5 feet was found injured at a ground 75kms away from Trivandrum at Quilon. The same day many have seen a flock of blue-footed boobies on their migratory flight over the city of Quilon.

The bird might have suffered a mishap and landed at the ground. It was rescued by SPCA(Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals) activists and provided medical treatment immediately after spotting the sinking bird.

It was shifted to the zoo because it was not strong enough to be released. It has a deep injury on the right side near the eye and was refusing to eat initially. Then later it devoured plenty of sardines and mackerels as is usually the case.

These birds have the reputation of being one of the most fearless and is known for its pair of blue webbed feet.On seeing a fish it plunges head first without causing a splash.

Everybody hopes the bird to get well soon and be on its way back to the Galapagos Islands.

Sad to hear that a free migratory bird has landed up in zoo. I am not sure if it would be able to undertake the trip to galapagos on its own. I hope we can hear more about this incident after a few days.
