Nice image. I like the composition. The details are nice. I like the cobwebs. Did you dial any exposure compensation? Thanks for sharing.

PS: Happy Birthday!!! :)

Love the nicely diffused background. The cobwebs and the branch are parallel and create an interesting pattern.

Cheers,

Beautiful bird. One of the most difficult birds to photograph as it is very elusive. Indicator species. Once the country sides were full of these birds, but now it is very difficult to see them.

Good photograph.

Nice. Lovely BG. I find the highlights on the branch slightly distracting. The cobwebs add to the image. Overall a good shot. TFS.

Nice and sharp. As others have said, the details add to the shot.
I wonder if you took a burst on the motor drive? If so, you could have captured a frame just as it decides to take off, which I'm sure it will have done very shortly after this shot was taken.

Thanks all for the comments.

Steve, yes it did take off immediately. This was photographed in Ranganathittu. Sorry I didn't mention that I was in a boat. We were going quite close and I tried to capture the take off, but the wings had got cut, so was not sucessfull in capturing that moment.

Excellent compo Mrudul.
I am thirsty to get shot of pied kf.
Still you will get more clean and soft diffused background....?
May be you took this handheld.

That's even better if you took it from the boat! My experience is that the boatmen there are not very well versed in keeping things still or allowing time to get the shots you need.
I have never seen a pied at Ranganathittu, but it can be difficult to see past the much larger birds that dominate the scene there. If you get the chance to head south, there are loads of pied around Sivasamudram, especially on the feeders and main river around Forbes Sagar.
A shot of one hovering is my aim, hopefully I will get another chance next April...
