This juvenile painted stork was about to land when I photographed it.

Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, ISO 200, 1/640, f3.2, EV: +1/3, full frame image.

Cheers,

Beautiful pose captured. The low angle enhances the image. The green background looks good. Thanks for sharing.

Great capture. The green BG looks good. Wish the water had fewer highlights, but of course that is not something you could have helped. Overall a lovely image.
Wondering how f3.2 was sufficient here... ?

I like the composition and the limited DOF. Some more space on the left would have been great. Thanks for sharing.

Shot at the moment, nice angle.

Can be cropped more to get closer view.

EV at 0.3/0.7 would decrease destructing highlights of water?
But then you might need to compromise with details on wings.

Abhishek,
It is based on the distance and focal length as well. The camera reading says the subject distance was 49.70 meters. In this case I was using the 400mm without the converter. At f3.2 and 49.7 meters the depth of field is 1.85m. So you get the coverage of the bird.

On hindsight, I feel f4 would have been even better as I would have got 2.33m depth of field. Remember, I estimated and clicked and the estimation was purely on the basis of my understanding of this lens. I didn't have time to press the dof preview button in the camera.

Cheers,
