There were 150+ Pelicans in Singanallur Lake, Coimbatore sitting and swimming in pod. This photograph is one such pod. It is in this time of the year, these birds can be seen in large numbers here.

These birds were really shy of human presence and were frequently disturbed by dogs which came along with cattle grazers.

Nice image Mohan, it would have been nice if you were able to cover all the pelicans on left and right.

Good to see so many pelicans at a place.

Some people use "pod" as the collective noun for pelicans, but am not sure why. Feral dogs are a big threat in most of the places. The ground nesting birds get impacted and the scavengers like Vultures also lose out on the food.

The pelicans came in large flocks this year. Paucity of water was however deceiving for them in many places.

The Singanallur tank in Coimbatore too is shrinking fast and getting terribly polluted.

Locals should be made aware of so that they can raise collective voice.
