Colloquially called Charamunti (in Malayalam) sightings of this widespread resident breeder near water bodies in getting rare by the day. The European grey heron which sometimes visit North india from central Asia in Breeding season is almost identical in plumage and appearance.

Great. How come you got it so close? I like the eye contact. It is resting. Thanks for sharing.

That is definitely very close. :)
I like the way it is sitting. This kind of grey heron looks a bit different.
I like your choice of aperture. Nice eye contact.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments guys.
This was shot in Mysore outskirts. The Bird landed quite close where i was sitting watching a Bronze winged jacana and even when i turned and moved towards it sat still. Then it made the usual Kwarck and flew away. I guess it is the heron behaviour to freeze sometimes to avoid detection.
