The branch is nice. Eye contact is good. Its habitat is like that. So getting a clean background is a challenge. A longer lens would have helped you in isolating the bird. You can vary the aperture ie. f8, f11 (if light permits) and see the impact of depth of field. Not easy to create pleasing environmental portraits. When done well, they shine.

Nice perch Dr., the open beaks adds to the composition. As mentioned by Sabyasachi you will need a telephoto lens for bird photography.

The low angle is nice. The perch and the open beak enhances the image further. A telephoto lens is always good or you can use a hide when you photograph birds. You can also try to first take a few images first and then approach the bird very slowly (maybe crawling if you can) and try to come as close as possible. Look forward to more. Thanks for sharing.
