Fearless creature it was . Posed very well . There were two of them , a male and a female i guess . They look like birds with a black cap on their head :p .
specs :
cam : nikon L110 (handheld compact)
Shutter Speed : 1/125 sec
Iso 140
Lens Aperture : F/5.4

You can call them fearless to a certain extent, as they attach much larger birds to ward them off from their nesting site. I have seen them chase away painted storks who can swallow the small chicks of the river tern. However, they do get stressed when we move in close.
Moving a bit to the left would have helped in avoiding the bright highlights.

Nice close up. The eye contact and the yellow beak looks good. The details are nice. Agree about the bright highlights. Keep posting. Thanks for sharing.

I like the profile. Good attempt.
A bit more head turn would have ensure a better connect of the subject with the viewer. The 2 bright areas in the background distract a bit. You need to look for good smooth backgrounds while shooting as that ensures the subject 'pops'.
