Its nice that you tried a different composition. Side on profile looks nice. I would place it a bit more to the left. The details are nice. Thanks for sharing.

Agree with the previous comment. Good to see that you are trying different compositions with the 500mm. Longer focal lengths often force us to think and be disciplined in our approach. Wish you had more light for a narrow aperture.

I like the looking back pose. Agree that placing it a bit more to the left would have been nice. Seems you have been shooting a lot at f/4 :)
The ISO performance of the 7D is supposed to be pretty good. You could have tried to increase the ISO and then narrowed the aperture for a higher depth of field.

The background is relatively clean but for a few branches and a pink flower (lantana?). The flower does attract a bit of attention.
