Had to crop this image since another one's wing blur (i was on a 1/60 shutter and 400 ISO to accomodate dim light) was creating a distraction.

400D, EF 100-400 L, F6.3,1/60, ISO 400

Lovely sharp image . Love the posture of the bird .
But there are some improvements you can do on this pic itself.
1. The most pleasing crops are 16:9 for a panorama or 4:6 / 5:7 for other subjects. Square crops rarely work , and here the tree trunk seems too distracting .
2. The contrast here is very high . If you tone down the contrast, you will see a lot more details in the highlights as well the shadows.
3. White Balance is very important to bring out the colours in a shot . I feel the WB here should have been a bit higher .

I have tried the same with your image, but being a jpeg , this is the best I could come up with.
