Cannot actually call this a charge. The tusker smelt us from quite a distance, kept coming closer and closer very casually , after he was really close, he emitted a loud trumpet and bolted with his tail raised .

This was at 80mm on my 80 - 200.

Nice pose captured. The raised trunk is interesting. A little more space on the right and at the bottom to include the body and the feet in full would have been good. The mud thrown on the head and back looks nice. Where was this photographed? Thanks for sharing.

Typical elephant behaviour. They use their trunks to sniff. Their eye sight is poor however the sense of smell and hearing is highly developed. In this case, I guess the wind was not carrying your scent to the elephant.

In most of the cameras, the view finder is less than 100%, so in critical conditions the toe/feet gets slightly cut. Overall looks nice.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Nice image and interesting behavior captured. Agree about including the whole body in frame.

This is at Corbett.
About the missing body parts :) , Could not move much in a gypsy with 2 more people in it. And I was at the widest limit of my zoom :(

with the frontal approach of the tusker, this is a very good pose.

Curious: is the left ear tattered or is the light doing tricks?
