I was watching this purple heron for sometime and it managed to catch a prey.

Keoladeo National Park. Bharatpur. Am not sure whether we can call it Keoladeo Ghana anymore, as the park is no longer has dense vegetation.

Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF 2xII ie. at 800mm optical focal length, ISO 800, f8, 1/800, full frame image.

I could have moved the camera a bit to the left, however, composed it to keep the vegetation on the right intact.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Nice image & lovely action captured. The in focus grass at foreground and the blur one in the background looks really nice.

The pose is nice. The eye contact looks good along with the catch here. Was a slightly lower angle possible here?
The included vegetation looks nice here. Thanks for sharing.

Bibhav,
Unfortunately, this was photographed from the road, with the tripod fully extended to shoot over the vegetation. There was no way to go down as the bushes were dense. :( The 1040mm effective focal length (400mm*2 x converter*1.3 crop factor of camera) and the long distance of the subject ensured that the bird angle got reduced.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Immature bird. The details have come out well inspite of the distance.Mostly we get to see the pics of the adult. This is nice.
