Silhouette is the right spelling. Composition wise moving the camera a bit lower would have been good. Typically we use the central auto focus point and then shoot. Selecting a peripheral point would help. Also, one can select a area that is in the same plane as the bird and then focus there to get the bird in focus as well.

It was a nice idea to get a Silhouette since it was against the light. I feel a vertical composition would have also looked good. Did you try a vertical? Agree with Sabyasachi, about the central auto focus point. Once you get a few images, you can try different composition (hoping the subject is still present :)) and different focus points and try to enhance the composition further. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you gentlemen for the advice and well noted. No, I didn't try a vertical. I did not think about it. Next time will remember to try both horizontal & vertical.
