Canon 7D
Sigma 50-500mm f 4-6.3
ISO 400, AV mode 1/5000 SS ,
FF, Hand held (shot in raw format)
The light was the problem and didn't expect about the SS will reach 1/5000.

Nice shot Sandesh, I liked the open beak and the water droplets at the feet. It is difficult to control exposure especially on Black and White birds. However you have done well, a little more details would have been better. Leaving more space in the direction the the Black Headed Ibis is looking would have been nice.

The wing spread is good. The high shutter speed has ensured that the wings has come out well. For large birds in flight, you don't need such high shutter speeds. When the bird is in flight, in this case if the focus is locked on the body, then the head will come out sharp. However, due to the flapping of the wings, the focus often locks a bit ahead.

In 7D, you can select a group of AF points depending upon the side from which the bird is entering into the frame.

Cheers,

Nice details. The landing pose is good. The high shutter speed has helped to freeze the motion. The water droplets add to the image. Very well captured. Thanks for sharing.
