Nice capture. Agree about the focus though.

I have seen that you prefer f/5.6, which is default aperture at 400mm for 100-400mm lens. Also you are using Auto ISO based on the EXIF. Do you shoot in JPEG mode or RAW?

In case all the AF points are on, then at times the AF point can pick the weed before the bird. In such cases, one can acquire the focus using the centre AF point (even though all the AF points are active) and then can keep the shutter button half pressed to keep the focus locked and then recompose and click. If you are using the back * button to acquire focus then you can keep that pressed to retain focus while recomposing.

I have tried the auto ISO. However, I prefer to select the ISO myself.
