This image is from the same series as the earlier one posted:

I moved a bit closer for this image. Infact I was pretty close.

Canon EOS 50D, Canon EF 300mm f4 L IS USM, ISO 800, f8, 1/60, EV: +2/3, full frame image.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

PS: At such close distances, if the gaur charges, your chances of running away to tell the tale is next to impossible. So please be cautious.

That is real close. Nice composition and details. Seems like a huge animal. Thanks for sharing.

. sir u must be having nerves of steel. This is scary and thrilling.I did get get pretty close to gaurs but not this close and not intentionally. On walks you kinda bump into one but even then got the chance to back off. There is certianly no escape at this range. It is belived they rarely charge but one can say that from the comfort of the living room not on the feild . any shot with the horns covered? must be massive set wud love to see that.

The photo is awesome! I thought only the National Geographic Mag could boast of such a 'wild snap' - great one Sabyasachi. But I am not sure its worth the risk you have taken :)
