Breaking the chain of bird images, posting this one of a Sambar deer created in Bharatpur with a 1DIII and a 500mm f4 plus a 1.4xTC at ISO 500 f5.6 and 1/1000s.

Wow! he is huge. Nice to a see this animal relaxed and drink in peace, the details are nice. However to me it looks like light is a bit harsh.

Nice pose captured. Agree with Praveen, he looks quite big. The details and the eye contact is nice. Thanks for sharing.

tfs Thanks Praveen and Mrudul. The point on harsh light is well taken, the sun was high. Will try to retrieve as much possible in LR.

In bharatpur these Sambar's are very wary. So getting a shot of the Sambar drinking peacefully is nice. The eye contact is nice. The sambar is parallel to the body and hence completely covered with depth of field.

It is always a challenge to photograph animals or birds who are just out of water. The reason being the wet portion shines and often gets overexposed. In this case slightly less exposure and a bit of fine tuning the white balance would be good. Thanks for sharing.

The details are nice. Perhaps toning down the bright areas on the sambar a bit might look good. Thanks for sharing.
