Indian Crocodile (Crocodylus palustris)
This large Male Crocodile was first spotted walking down the dusty jungle path before settling down to sun on the banks of the Rajbagh lake in the Ranthambhore national park. Later we found its bird like footprints and the impressions of its swaying tail for a good 3 kilometres on the dust down that pathway. Crocodiles in Ranthambhore migrate from seasonal waterbodies to perinnial ones.
It is lucky that its biggest enemy in the National Park, a tigress called Machli, is too old and has lost all its canines while hunting Crocodiles. In her younger days, she would not have hesitated to attack even such a large male walking so brazenly in her territory.

Big guy covered in the red dust of ranthambhore. The image goes well with the story. I wish you had used atleast a stop narrow aperture and a higher ISO for greater depth of field. Thanks for sharing.
